Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is the process of facilitating the natural state of hypnosis in order to make positive change to thoughts, feelings, habits and behaviours at a unconscious level. During hypnosis the body becomes extremely relaxed, but unlike in a sleep state, there is also a heightened state of awareness. When the conscious mind is occupied and alert, it is easier to access and influence the unconscious mind with appropriate suggestions based on the client’s wishes and desires for positive change.

Useful Applications

Hypnotherapy has been shown to be an efficient way to change behaviours and habits, reduce levels of stress and anxiety and treat a number of conditions that have a negative effect on health. For instance, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recognise hypnotherapy as an effective treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

Positive Psychology, NLP, Coaching and Hypnosis

I am qualified in a number of disciplines that can help people to make positive change. My approach is solution based and has rapid results. Once my clients have overcome their perceived problem I use evidence based Positive Psychology practices to help people flourish and enhance their feelings of wellbeing and self-esteem.

Positive Psychology and Mindfulness Practice (Online Courses)

I am a great advocate of mindfulness practice, particularly when combined with Positive Psychology. I do not teach this myself but I am happy to recommend the work of Dr Itai Itzvan who runs an online course. DETAILS

Responding to Hypnotherapy

Some people find it easier than others to enter a hypnotic state, in the same way that people find it easier to relax. It is important to feel comfortable, safe and secure, and have trust in your hypnotherapist. This is why I offer a free telephone consultation to my clients so that they can express any reservations they may have and ask questions. I’m also happy to facilitate a mini 5-minute session so that clients can experience a facilitated hypnotic state. Most people are delighted to discover how pleasant, relaxing and enjoyable hypnosis feels.

Hypnotherapy Regulations

Hypnotherapists are not required to be regulated in the UK that means that it is possible to set up practice with very little or no professional training and experience.
